Stramaccioni commented on the incident, stating: “Unfortunately, all the elements justifying a red card were present.”
The former coach highlighted Bastoni’s decision as a significant gamble, implying the foul was clear and the referee’s decision, though detrimental, was well-founded given the circumstances of the play. Stramaccioni concluded that, despite the unfortunate outcome for the player and his team, the nature of the challenge left the referee with little alternative but to issue the red card.
