The referee's official report clearly detailed these events, stating that "following the expulsion of the visiting coach, as he was heading to the changing rooms, water was thrown at him from a section of the home stands." The report further added that, after the match concluded and while entering the tunnel, "water was thrown again, falling on Assistant Referee 1 and myself."
