Ex-Arsenal Star Mathieu Flamini, Now a Billionaire, Reportedly Eyes Stake in Club

Since retiring from football in 2019, Mathieu Flamini has successfully transitioned into a biochemistry entrepreneur. English media reports indicate that the former French international is now considering acquiring shares in Arsenal, a club with which he shares a deep personal connection.

Mathieu Flamini's journey from professional footballer to thriving entrepreneur is truly remarkable. While earlier reports in 2018 about him becoming a billionaire were premature, by 2026, this has reportedly become a reality. Forbes estimates the former Arsenal midfielder's wealth at a staggering £10 billion, primarily accumulated through his successful biochemistry venture, 'GF Biochemicals'. Now, the former Gunner is reportedly keen to invest in the London club.

According to Topskills Sports UK, Flamini is open to purchasing shares in the club, currently majority-owned by American businessman Stan Kroenke. The 42-year-old former player emphasized his enduring affection for his previous teams, stating: "It goes without saying that these clubs (Arsenal and Marseille) hold a special place in my heart. I never forget where I come from."

A Deep Connection to Arsenal

After developing his skills at Olympique de Marseille, Flamini joined Arsenal for two distinct periods. He made 153 appearances for the Gunners between 2004 and 2008, and another 93 between 2013 and 2016, following a stint with AC Milan. These two spells at Arsenal arguably represent the pinnacle of his playing career, during which he amassed the majority of his trophies. Notably, he also featured in Arsenal's Champions League final appearance against FC Barcelona at the Stade de France in 2006.

Evidently, the North London club played a significant role in the former Marseille player's professional life. It was also during his time at Arsenal that Flamini earned all three of his senior caps for the French national team in 2007 and 2008. These strong ties provide a compelling motivation for him to now support his former team in a new capacity.
