Speaking at a press conference on Wednesday ahead of Belgium's friendly match against the United States, Thomas Meunier lauded the exceptional quality of the French squad. According to him, Les Bleus are among the top favorites to win the upcoming World Cup.

Thomas Meunier spoke highly of the French national team. As the Red Devils prepare for the rapidly approaching 2026 World Cup (June 11 - July 19) with a friendly against the USA, the Lille defender shared his thoughts on the upcoming tournament, particularly highlighting France's impressive roster.

Meunier stated: "In terms of mentality and football, I don't think we have much to envy from certain other teams (...) But we are well aware that there are teams who are clear favorites. If I take the example of the French team, with all the players they have, it's possible to field three teams that can win the World Cup. Here in Belgium, it's a bit different."

The Final Stretch Before the World Cup

Before heading to the tournament this summer, the Red Devils will play two friendly matches in the United States this March. The games are scheduled for Saturday, March 28, against the host nation, and Tuesday, March 31, against Mexico.

These matches aim to prepare the team for the global event, for which Belgium has qualified and is placed in Group G, alongside Egypt, Iran, and New Zealand.
