Mercato: Achraf Hakimi Eyes Real Madrid Return Amid PSG Contract

Superstar right-back Achraf Hakimi, 27, is reportedly keen to make a return to Real Madrid, the club where he developed his skills and began his professional journey. However, a potential transfer appears to be fraught with complexity.

Though he made his professional debut with Real Madrid in 2017, featuring in 17 matches and securing a Club World Cup and a Champions League title under Zinedine Zidane, Hakimi never established a long-term presence in the senior squad. He subsequently spent two successful years on loan at Borussia Dortmund (2018-2020), where he gained European recognition and won the German Supercup.

A Potential Reunion with Kylian Mbappé?

In 2020, Real Madrid opted to sell Hakimi permanently to Inter Milan for €43 million. His impressive season in Italy culminated in a Serie A title before he moved to Paris Saint-Germain in 2021 for approximately €70 million. At PSG, Hakimi has cemented his status as a key player and a genuine superstar. He played a pivotal role in their 2025 Champions League victory, scoring crucial goals in the quarter-final first leg, semi-final second leg, and the final itself. His outstanding contributions led to him finishing 6th in the Ballon d'Or rankings and being named African Player of the Year for that season.

Sources indicate that the Moroccan international is "prepared to do whatever it takes to return" to the Spanish capital. Nevertheless, his current contract with PSG runs until 2029, posing a substantial hurdle for any transfer, even with recent improvements in relations between the two football giants. A move back to Real Madrid would also see Hakimi reunite with his close friend, Kylian Mbappé, with whom he formed a strong bond during their shared time at PSG from 2021 to 2024.
