Mauricio Pochettino has once again clarified his position, distancing himself from rumors of an immediate return to Tottenham Hotspur. On Monday, the former Spurs boss, while affirming he has not been contacted about the role, also confidently stated his belief that his old club will “for sure” avoid relegation, despite their challenging season.
Pochettino, who managed Tottenham from 2014 to 2019 and guided them to some of their most significant modern-era achievements, has frequently been linked with a comeback to the North London club. However, his current commitment as head coach of the US men’s national team precludes him from taking on a new club role at this time. His contract with US Soccer is set to expire in August, meaning he will not be available for his next managerial position until after this summer’s World Cup commitments conclude, during which period Tottenham has experienced a difficult spell.
