Premier League clubs are grappling with a substantial challenge as the upcoming ban on gambling company shirt sponsorships looms. As many as nine clubs are still without front-of-shirt commercial deals for the next season, and a dozen have yet to finalize any contracts, raising concerns that some may commence the campaign without a primary sponsor.
This impending prohibition is expected to significantly impact the commercial revenues of most clubs, particularly outside the traditional ‘big six’. An executive from one club estimated that the collective income loss from these vital shirt deals across the league could reach £80 million for the upcoming season.
