The Football Regulator (IFR) is being called upon to prohibit Premier League clubs from accepting sponsorship deals with gambling companies that do not hold a UK license. This plea comes as part of the latest public consultation regarding the IFR’s licensing framework. Entain, a prominent global sports betting firm operating brands such as Ladbrokes and Coral, has formally responded to the IFR, seeking clearer guidance to prevent clubs from entering into commercial agreements with unlicensed betting operators within the UK.
This season, two Premier League clubs have notably abstained from advertising companies involved in such sponsorships.
