The Premier League is preparing to modify its upcoming financial regulations before their implementation next season. These adjustments are designed to provide clubs with enhanced flexibility regarding player transfers.
These changes will refine the existing Squad Cost Ratio (SCR) rules, which were initially approved last November. Under the current SCR framework, clubs are restricted to spending 85% of their total revenue on player-related costs. Any breach of this limit would result in a financial levy paid to the Premier League, which would then be distributed among other clubs.
Furthermore, a more stringent penalty, specifically a six-point deduction, would be imposed if a club’s spending on player costs reaches 115% of its revenue. A significant proposed amendment suggests that clubs may gain the ability to roll over any unused squad cost ratio allowance, potentially offering greater financial maneuverability in subsequent transfer windows.
In other news, the £30 price cap for away tickets has also been extended, now set to remain in effect until the conclusion of the 2027-28 season.
